Fr. Emanuel Magro was born 28th December 1955, the son of Joseph and Rita nee Cauchi. He was raised and educated in Victoria, Gozo. He read philosophy and theology at the Seminary in Victoria and was ordained priest on 28th June 1979. He was an Associate Pastor in the Archdiocese of Cologne for five years and later at the Cathedral parish in Victoria, Gozo. In 1986 he left for the United States of America to pursue further studies. He obtained a masters degree in Library Science and a Ph.D. in Catechesis/Religious Education. He returned to his native home town in 2001 and took the leadership of the Minor Seminary of the Diocese of Gozo. Upon his return he was appointed one of the chaplains of the ESCC and is now chaplain-in-charge. He is currently a full-time lecturer of Catechesis and Religious Education at the University of Malta. His favourite quote is from the Gospel of St John: “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.”
